Main Street Tour

Potosi, set in a long and narrow valley, has been noted in 'Ripley's Believe It or Not', as having the longest main street without an intersection in the world. Along this winding thoroughfare lies many of the original houses built by the early miners as they settled in Potosi. Many other sites of historic importance lie along this route including businesses, churches, schools and so on. A Main Street Tour is being developed to point out these sites and highlight their histories. This self-guided tour can be taken by car, bicycle, on foot, or here on-line, from the comfort of your home.

To compliment our Main Street Tour we are developing a Town and Country Tour which highlights sites of historical importance along Potosi's East Main street on through Tennyson, British Hollow, Buena Vista, Rockville and back towards Potosi. Along this tour can be seen homes, businesses, mines and mining related industrial sites, ghost towns, and more. This self-guided tour extends several miles out into the Potosi Township and can be taken by car, bicycle, or online here.

Please check back occasionally to see what new sites have been added. It is hoped to have printed versions of these tours available soon. They will be available at the Passage Thru Time Museum and other local businesses.
